I was 13, raised in the 'truth' so never knew anything else. I should have done what Jesus did and waited until I was 30. In fact I think everyone should wait until they are 30!

one thing this site has made me reflect on the baptism practice in jw land.. many of us were raised in the religion, thus you were given the pressure early on to shoot for baptism as a goal.. i remember feeling bad because i waited until the ripe old age of 14 to take the plunge.. looking back, i realize that when i was 14, i didnt even know what my favorite color was, let alone have enough knowledge to make a life altering decision.
yet, growing up in that climate, i would say anyone who waited past their early teens to get baptised was viewed with great suspicion and was likely to be viewed as "bad association".
kids who took the dip at 8-9 years of age were viewed as "wise beyond their years" and the like.. how old were some of you when you were baptised, and what are your feelings on the matter?.

it's not too soon to start mentioning that to jw's- let them know that 100 years is a long time and even g-d only made the israelites wander in the wilderness for 40 years, before he brought them to the promised land.
let the doubt begin creeping in and let the jw's know they aren't the only ones with doubts.
i will mention 2014 to jw's from now on- it's a date that the wt hopes the jw's will ignore..
There will be celebrations in 2014 but they will be invisible to the R & F. They will merely pay for them.

let me explain by what i am getting at without sounding like captain obvious!
i am actually excited about this since i think this could help assist a ton of people out of this organization!!.
i believe that the governing body is stepping up efforts to emphasize their unconditional rulership - every wt study article seems to make reference to their authority.
WE HERE know FAR MORE than the average Dub about HIS OWN religion. Think about that. It's because we DO care about the details and DON'T submit to the phantom authority of the Borg.
That is absolutely true Mad Sweeny. Here in my congregation the overwhelming majority still do not know about the Generation change as they have still not read the WT. They probably will not until the night before the study! Quick underline in 15min flat.

leon weaver gave a talk here in england recently at the east pennines assembly hall.
he mentioned the 15 july 2010 wt but did not expand on it.
i had never heard of him but found a photo of him in 2003 yearbook and also noted he was mentioned in coc.
St George, if you can, please post a pic of Leon Weaver here. I do not know what he looks like, but others told me about him
Thanks for the information. Sorry I cannot post a picture as I do not have a working scanner. If anyone can help Silentone it is in the 2003 Yearbook P22.

ok another poster just went to the two day assembly and i just went to the one day special assembly day sunday.
at both of them it seems there was strong words against getting married.
they had on the stage a group of young men about three of them an older sister who is not that attractive but she is really nice, of course not brother would give her the time of day, and this older brother who is in his 60's and nice but very strange.. they all went on and on and on about not getting married.
I knew a sister who died, in her 80's, she had been a pioneer and then had gone to Gilead, then become a missionary. She never married and died alone and full of disappointment and regret.

i went to the sunday circuit assembly and came back all riled up with all the nonsense.. the sunday program was on ''safeguarding your spirituality''.
''it is better to remain single and not marry.
that gives you more time for studying and the preaching work.
Sister: ''This world is passing by and may not be here any longer.
They told me exactly the same when I left school! In 1963

this system is ending!!!
why worry about the future....did anyone save for retirement???
what are your plans???
I am in my 60's and have been retired for 10 years due to ill health. I had always planned on working as long as possible as I really enjoyed my work. Fortunately we can manage OK financially as I went to University after we married and were always careful with money. We have our own house and no debt which also helps.
Often I think how different it would have been if I had followed the GB directive and not gone to University. We would be living in rented accomodation, no security and scraping by on State Pension! The guys at Brooklyn really haven't got a clue as to what real life is like on the outside. They are completely institutionalised. I think they should be put out for a year's sabbatical every seven years and told to find a job and accomodation. They would soon change their tune when they had to find money for gas, electricity, taxes, food etc etc etc.
The main problem I find after limitations due to health is the lack of academic challenge. I really miss my work and would always say to anyone never retire unless you have to do so, or unless you really do not enjoy your career. When you do retire ensure you do something that gives you mental exercise; take a part-time course, join a club or some other outside interest to keep the grey matter working.
Hope it all works out for you

this is one of the most important concepts you could ever grasp.
unfortunately humans do not naturally understand this idea, so we need to throw in a bit of simple math to help us understand.. below is a series of videos that will help you understand.
yes, these are extraordinarily boring, but you will be a much better person for watching them.. .
Checked my bank statement against this and did not see much correlation!
